PUREti TIPT is used in the manufacturing process of many prazole-class drugs (such as pantoprazole, omeprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole etc.), but not as an ingredient in the final drug formulation.
TIPT is often used as a catalyst or reagent in organic synthesis, especially in enolate formation and condensation reactions.
In prazole synthesis, it’s involved in steps like:
- Catalyzing cyclization reactions.
- Promoting selective oxidation or rearrangement.
- Acting as a mild Lewis acid to enable specific bond formations.
The titanium species is removed during purification and does not remain in the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) in any significant quantity. It’s a process chemical, similar to how palladium catalysts are used in drug synthesis but aren’t part of the tablet/capsule itself.
